Death of Port Jervis newborn is still being investigated

Last November the lifeless body of a new born baby was found in a parking lot in the city of Port Jervis. It was about 15 degrees. The investigation by the Orange County Medical Examiner's Office and Port Jervis Police is still ongoing. Today's New Jersey Herald is reporting prosecutors and police are reviewing the results of the autopsy, medical reports and other forensic evidence with the Orange County Medical Examiners Office. In an emailed statement quoted in the newspaper Port Jervis Police Chief William Worden says: " Due to the nature and scope of the investigations that have been ordered and performed during this investigation, it is not uncommon for an investigation of this type to be ongoing for several months." Meanwhile, a group on Facebook was started several weeks ago to make sure the child is not forgotten. The group has more that 1,200 members who are keeping "a close eye" on the case because they believe the baby's mother has "possible connections to authoritative figures."
