Budd Lake dentist admits he exposed patients to dangerous infection

Budd Lake Oral Surgeon Dr John Vecchione will lose his license for 5 years after settling his case with the state attorney general's office. Back in 2014 over a dozen of Dr. Vecchione's patients contracted a dangerous heart infection known as bacterial endocarditis. One of those patients died. Dr. Vecchione fought the allegations for years. He agreed to have his license temporarily suspended in 2016 while his case was pending. In a settlement announced by the state attorney general's office yesterday Dr. Vecchione also agreed to pay $293,000 in penalties. Inspections of his office back in 2016 showed several risky practices that jeopardized patients health and safety. Dr. Vecchione operated North Jersey Maxillofacial Reconstructive Surgery on Route 46 in Budd Lake.
