JCP&L Wants to Raise Your Electric Bill to Recover Storm-related Costs

JCP&L is looking to raise energy rates by 8.5% to help recoup costs after winter storms damaged power lines. According to NJ.com, the average increase would be about $9 for the average residential household.

Storms in 2018 and 2019 caused over $300 million in damages according to JCP&L. Ultimately, the New Jersey Board of Public Utilities gets the final decision over rate increases.
