James McCann of Oxford was charged with three counts of first degree aggravated sexual assault of a minor last week in Warren County. Prosecutors allege McCann's crimes took place over an 8 year period between 1986 and 1993 in Hackettstown and Independence Townships. When the abuse started the female victim was under the age of 13. The abuse continued until she was between 13 and 16 years old. McCann is now 64 years old and could spend the rest of his life in prison if he is convicted of the charges against him. He was released after he agreed to pretrial conditions. His next day in court will be in April.
