Coronavirus Update: N.J. N.Y. Pa. March 18 2020

Officials in New Jersey, New York and Pennsylvania continue to provide daily updates on the spread of Coronavirus. As of yesterday the total number of confirmed cases in New Jersey rose to 267. A total of 89 new cases were confirmed yesterday. 15 of New Jersey's 21 counties have at least one confirmed case. So far there are still no confirmed cases in Sussex and Warren Counties. The number of deaths statewide is still 3. State Health Commissioner Judy Persichelli said "as we test more individuals, we expect more cases." Yesterday Governor Murphy ordered all indoor malls in New Jersey closed by 8 PM. All Sussex County Libraries will be closed to the public until further notice. Due dates and fines have been suspended. Library staff will be available via phone to help with e-resources during regular business hours.

The number of confirmed Coronavirus cases in New York State rose to 1,706. Almost half of all cases are in New York City. Even though New York City's cases have been growing at a much faster pace than other places. Governor Cuomo says there are no plans for a "shelter in place." order.

Coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania have reached 96. Most cases are in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties. Yesterday state officials closed all 600 state run liquor stores in Pennsylvania until further notice. So far Pennsylvania has reported 0 deaths from Coronavirus.
