Coronavirus Update: N.J. N.Y. Pa. March 19 2020

It was only a matter of time. Yesterday the Sussex County Health Department reported 3 confirmed cases of Coronavirus were being investigated. Vernon Mayor Howard Burrell said one of the cases was a 53 year old Vernon resident who started to self quarantine a week ago. When he found out a co-worker at his job outside of Sussex County tested positive. The other two Sussex County residents who tested positive are from Frankford and Sparta. Officials did not release any additional information. Statewide, there are 427 cases. 5 people have died. The county with the most cases is Bergen with 113. A mass testing center is opening today at Bergen County Community College in Paramus. Healthcare professionals and first responders will be given priority. The center is capable of taking 2,500 samples a week. Yesterday all indoor shopping malls, bowling alleys and other indoor amusement areas were closed in New Jersey and New York until further notice.

In New York State the number of confirmed cases reached 3083. 20 people in the state have died. A drive through Coronavirus Testing Center opened yesterday in Harriman State Park. Orange Regional Medical Center is now also testing. St. Anthony Community Hospital in Warwick will be opening an appointment only drive thru testing center by the end of this week.

The number of Coronavirus cases in Pennsylvania climbed to 154 yesterday. Mostly in Philadelphia and Montgomery Counties. Pike County now has 2 confirmed Coronavirus cases. A resident of Milford recently tested positive. In response Pike County and Milford Borough have declared a State of Emergency. Pennsylvania has 1 Coronavirus related death. The person who died was a resident of Northhampton County.
