My "Ready for Summer" Weekend in Pictures

This past Saturday was June 6th. The 76th anniversary of D-Day. On that single day in our nation's history almost 2,500 Americans were killed on the beaches of Normandy, France. Several years ago I interviewed Jerry Grande for Memorial Day. He was in his 90's at the time. He was 19 years old in 1944 when he hit the beach and witnessed the bloodshed first hand. That day is now very real for me. Many of the Americans who were killed that day were 18 or 19 years old. This weekend I finally got a chance to put a new American flag my deck. I am very proud it's there. The weather was beautiful for enjoying the pool too. So I took my tube out of the shed and enjoyed the refreshing water with Miss Gracie on Saturday. My son Matt had a birthday party for his fiance' Jess on Saturday too. He donated the surplus adult beverages to me. Thank you Matt. I'll be enjoying them in moderation of course. My other weekend project was hanging the summer curtains. I love letting the sunlight in. For many years my mom used to come over to help me switch my curtains. She taught me everything I know about drapes and curtains. Thank You mom. My vegetable garden continues to flourish. Remember the tiny broccoli plants from a few weeks ago? They are about 25 times bigger now. Check out all of my weekend pictures below.
