Catholic Academy of Sussex County students returning to classroom full time

The President of the Sussex County Catholic Academy has made his position very clear. In a letter to parents, Father Kieran McHugh said all three of the academy's schools would be returning to 5 days of in classroom instruction starting September 1st. The Monsignor asked parents: "Do you agree that it is time to get those cherubs back where they belong?" He also questioned the motives of educators who do not support resuming in classroom learning this September. Wondering if "the cacophony of sounds and chatter" about schools reopening was due to educators "looking for excuses not to return to the classroom." McHugh went on to say: "The Academy will not be offering a smorgasbord or ala carte menu of instruction." The letter says all students and staff returning to the academy will have to wear face masks and fill out daily wellness surveys before entering school. Classrooms will have only the number of desks required and will be cleaned regularly by custodians and monthly by an outside company. The Catholic Academy of Sussex County is made up of three schools: Pope John High School, Pope John Middle School and The Rev. Brown Memorial School.
