Delaware Water Gap National Park suspends swimming

When I first saw the headline: "Swimming banned at Delaware Water Gap" I thought it might have been because of all the drownings this summer. As it turned out, that wasn't the reason. A Sunday morning social media post by the Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area said: " Avoid contact with the water while boating and floating." Officials say bacteria levels in the Delaware River have reached unsafe levels due to run off from Tropical Storm Isaias. It usually takes about three days for run off to clear down stream after a store. Sometimes it does take longer. The closing is temporary until bacteria levels are safe again.
