A Delaware Water Gap entrance fee won't be happening

Delaware Water Gap National Recreation Area has become more and more popular over the past five years. Then Covid-19 happened and the park saw three to four times more vistors than previous years. There are costs to maintaining the park and officials plan to make improvements over the next few years. Back in 2015 an entrance fee of $25 per car for a week long pass was proposed by park officials. The entrance fees sparked protest letters from hundreds of park users and park officials heard from many more angry people at three open houses. This week park officials announced plans to charge an entrance fee had been taken off the table but there would be a new $16 dollar fee for overnight campers at riverside campgrounds.
