New Jersey hopes to take back taxes it's residents paid to New York

They were buddies before the election but now that the election is over the governors of New Jersey and New York might soon find their states in a legal fight before the United States Supreme Court. As of now the New Jersey Attorney General's Office is keeping a close eye on whether the U.S. Supreme Court agrees to hear a case brought by the State of New Hampshire against The State of Massachusetts. The case makes the argument that: New Hampshire residents who would usually commute into Massachusetts should not have to pay Massachusetts State Income Tax this year if they've been working from home. If the United States Supreme Court agrees to hear the case New Jersey could possibly sue New York under the same reasoning. New Jersey's Attorney General has already filed a brief with the Supreme Court urging the justices to hear New Hampshire's case. Up to $1.2 Billion in New York tax revenue could be in jeopardy if it remains in the pockets of New Jersey residents working from home.
