Our Epic Cat Sitting Weekend In Pictures

Well this Epic Weekend In Pictures was definitely entertaining at times. The big two goals going into this weekend were to grill one of our self proclaimed world famous burgers Saturday night. The other big goal was to successfully cat sit for our bestie Jasen and Brendan's kitten, our niece Ally Cat. Last June when she was an even much younger kitten, Meg and I had a tremendous time. I swear we were laughing the whole time. It was so amazing to see her each hour get more comfortable and less timid at my place. Night one she was so nervous and timid, I crawled on my hands and knees to show her how and that it was okay to leave my bedroom and explore the rest of my one bedroom condo. Like watching young kids grow, this was so exciting and fascinating. By late Friday night, mi casa was Ally's casa. She cuddled with us a ton. Ally slept on my arm one night, slept on Meg's chest the other night. So many friends reached out to me on social media that weekend saying "oh no you're so done!" LOL. That was a fun weekend.

Friday morning our besties dropped off Ally with some of her toys and such. We knew it was going to be interesting seeing how the now older ally Cat would do at my place. Awesome Girlfriend Megan and I did a fun happy hour Friday night drink at The Cottage in Franklin. We had a great time seeing some of our wonderful friends, like Artie and Margie, Buckeye Paul, Patriot Fan Friends Colby and Paul. While we know cats are totally fine and often happy to be alone for several hours, we still wanted to swing by and feed her dinner at my place before we went out for the night.

Ally Cat!

Awesome Girlfriend Megan and I got home, and we put away Meg's weekend bags that she always brings to stay over my place. We look around real quick for Ally. Uh Oh. We can't find her anywhere. We're calling her, trying to bribe her with toys and food to get out from wherever she was hiding. Meg and I just kept looking at each other saying "this place is so tiny, there are literally only so few places where can could possibly be hiding." We kept looking behind couches, under my bed, etc. We knew that the door was definitely closed behind me when I left in the morning for work, we knew that she definitely didn't sneak past us when we walked inside to our place.

Turns out, she was hiding under my loveseat. I don't think she even noticed our loveseat last time we were cat sitting for her. Ah well. At least we know she's okay. Now Meg and I could breathe a sigh of relief and head out to Kite's Bar And Grill.

We had a great Friday night with our besties Brad, and JG. It was just a night of 4 great friends catching up and at times busting on each other, the way life should be as I always say. A great Friday night with two of our amazing friends was just what the doctor ordered for me and Meg. Success.

Meg and I came home to see that Ally was still chilling under the love seat. Meg and I hung out on my couch watching TV figuring she would make her way out soon. She wasn't. I was bummed, Meg knowing cats much better than me assured me to relax saying she'll come out whenever she's ready to come out. After going to sleep, by 1am, I couldn't take it any more and lifted my love seat recliner. Ally then slowly but surely made her way out. I went back to bed.

Saturday morning Meg and I checked in with my parents like we do every Saturday morning, and tell them about our weekend plans. We ran errands to Sussex Meat Pack to get ground beef, cheese, and buns. Success. It's always a great feeling knowing that terrific quality is likely coming your way. I haven't grilled our burgers for Meg in probably a couple of months. I shoveled off my deck hoping my extension cord to my electric grill wouldn't be covered by snow and ice. As much as I dug us out, it was still buried under a sheet of ice. I put some of my rock salt on it trying to break it up, no such luck.

Saturday afternoon we looked at a house in Newton that Meg might want to buy. She liked it. If this gets Meg closer to me being only a 30 minute drive instead of the 54 minute drive we've been doing these past almost 5 years, we will take it.

We then went to The Pig Whistle Inn (forgive me I'm not sure if it's in Andover, or Newton, or possibly both Andover and Newton for all we know, such a Sussex County thing with multiple addresses often LOL.) Seriously, how many people do you ask where they live and they answer with "my google map address is X, but my mailing address is Y."

Several friends have been encouraging me and Meg to go knowing that I'm a wing guy. We sat down and loved the fun decor. It's really a bar restaurant at the bottom of someone's residential house. Brilliant concept! The only negative to our experience was the wait time, it took over an hour for our food to come out. The quality of everyone's meal was good though at least. Their buffalo wings weren't that hot for me (I heart spice,) but they had good beef to them. Not bad at all. We'll probably give them another shot. I'm sure it's a challenge with a small kitchen too. We took our friends Margie and Artie out to lunch there because they were so helpful in knowing things to look for with house hunting. Success.

Saturday afternoon we swung by The Cottage in Franklin where we had many laughs. Even though it was only a Saturday afternoon, it had that late night Friday night feel when everyone started laughing more, playing the juke box and doing karaoke along to so many classic songs. They were busting on me when there were some 70s songs before I was born that I didn't know. We would have stayed later, but everyone knew Meg and I were excited for our latest grilling adventure, and we were slightly behind our planned schedule due to lunch taking much longer than anticipated. All good.

Saturday night, Ally was under the other side of my love seat. I immediately opened up the recliner and let her out. We aren't sure if she got herself stuck in there. She never cried, meowed or anything like that. Ah, cats. Ya just never know sometimes.

Meg and I continued our burger routine. Meg assembles them and does a fantastic job, so much so, often friends ask us where we got our "burger presser maker." They're blown away when we tell them "it's Meg!" It took awhile as expected to heat up my electric grill in the elements, and grilling when everything is dripping from the deck above you isn't always fun. Fortunately I was able to utilize my Space Farms hoody, and that helped me big time. Our burgers were good.

As were grilling, I made poor Awesome Girlfriend Megan watch Will Ferrell's 'Talladega Nights,' movie. After a long week/year, I figured it would be great for us to relax and enjoy a mindless comedy. There were some times when Meg laughed out loud, so that made me happy. I might have taken it too far by having us watch Step Brothers right after, but I'm sorry in February, there's nothing on TV! We weren't even in the mood to stream something. We were tired of thinking, lol.

Saturday night Ally was definitely warming up to us more getting more cuddly little by little. She usually followed Meg wherever she went.

Sunday morning we slept in a little longer than usual. We then went to The Cottage in Franklin for our Sunday farewell beer. We were very happy to be joined by our bestie Markie, one of our funniest friends, ever. We enjoyed our farewell beer while watching the Bruins beat the Rangers.

Sunday night, I was craving Domino's pizza for my first time in a couple months. Unfortunately I got sick right after eating it. NOT Domino's fault. It was my post nasal drippage mucus problem per usual UGH (sorry for TMI.)

Overall we had a wonderful weekend. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Epic Weekend In Pictures. Time to start planning next weekend, and I think it's going to involve a visit from one of my very best friends. Can't freakin wait!
