Yesterday the Sussex County Miners announced the signing of former New York Yankee and Met third baseman Todd Frazier. He'll be playing for the team until late July to get ready for the Olympics in Tokyo. Which are expected to begin in late July. Frazier is a favorite of New Jersey baseball fans. He was a member of the Toms River East team that won the Little League World Series in 1998. Then went on to play college baseball at Rutgers and 11 seasons in the Major Leagues. His last Major League game was last month with the Pittsburg Pirates. He had a good spring training but was batting only .086 when he was designated for assignment. Frazier is expected to start playing for the Miners this Friday Night. The team has a double header scheduled with the Tri City Wildcats. During a phone call yesterday Miners Manager and Director of Baseball Operations Bobby Jones shared the news with the New Jersey Herald. Frazier is 35 years old. Frazier has a great reputation in major league baseball and should be a terrific role model for the younger Miners players. Welcome to Sussex County Todd. We're happy you are here.
