North Bergen Mayor Nicholas Sacco is one of New Jersey's highest paid politicians. Sacco worked for the North Bergen School district for almost 50 years. Many of those years as a school administrator. While he was receiving full time pay as a school administrator. Sacco was also a state senator and mayor. Sacco's last position with the North Bergen School's was Director of Secondary and Elementary Education. It came with an annual salary of $269,000. Sacco retired in 2017 but continues as mayor of North Bergen and a State Senator. His positions as mayor and state senator pay $40,000 and $49,000 per year. In addition, Sacco received a lump sun check of nearly $270,000 for unused sick time back in 2017. Dr. George Solter, North Bergen's current Superintendent of Schools defended Sacco's pension and sick time payments saying: "Mayor Sacco worked for the North Bergan Board of Education for almost 50 years. His steady guidance, leadership and excellent job performance helped our schools become one of the best urban school districts in the state. Since his retirement the mayor has received only that district policy and it's collective bargaining agreement mandated." Is it just me or are there any other people who have a problem with "public servants" becoming multi millionaires while New Jersey property taxes are the highest in the United States?
