My "Boat life" Weekend in Pictures

I had one last chance to spend some time with my extended family this Labor Day Weekend and had a great time. Cousins are by definition extended family but for me they are the siblings I never had. They all treat me like a brother too. On Friday afternoon I took a New Jersey Transit train out of Port Jervis. Two more trains later I was getting picked up by my cousin Bronwyn in Babylon, Long Island. The next day Bronwyn and her boyfriend John took me to Fire Island and Ocean Beach on his boat. There are no cars allowed there. The only way to get there is by ferry or private boat. Our Saturday was truly action packed. We went by boat from Bay Shore to Fire Island. Relaxed on the beach at Fire Island for a few hours. Then walked for almost a mile to Ocean Beach. There are many nice restaurants and shops there. There was even a jazz band playing at the ferry dock. I tried a "Rocket Fuel" the island's trendy drink. Which can best be described as a pina colada made with very strong rum and pineapple juice. We then walked back to Fire Island in the dark and had a barbecue on the beach at the marina. We took John's boat back to Bay Shore and didn't get back to my cousin's house until midnight. After all that sunshine, walking and eating I was asleep before my head hit the pillow. After a nice breakfast Sunday morning I took three trains back to Port Jervis. Denise picked me up at the train station. We went to visit our son Matt, his wife Jess and their new adorable puppy Nala. Then it was back to business on Monday. My big project of the day was cleaning the pool, taking the cover out of the shed and filling the containers that hold the cover on with water. Today I will add the chemicals and put the cover on. Another pool season and Labor Day Weekend is in the books.
