My Epic "Appreciation of Life" Weekend in Pictures

Twenty years ago on Tuesday September 11th I went home to my young family and was overcome with gratitude. The night before almost 3,000 Americans spent their last evening with their families. They were gone but will never be forgotten. This weekend all of those emotions came back to me. So I slowed down my pace. There were a few projects around the house that got done. Like mowing the lawn, cleaning up the rec room and staining the back deck. After that I just wanted to enjoy my family, especially my grand kids. On Saturday I took my daughter Kim, Gracie and Christopher to the first annual pig roast at Bentley Assisted Living in Branchville. The event was Bentley's way of showing their appreciation to first responders and veterans. Bentley residents had a nice day and the whole community was invited. Snake Oil Willie Band performed live and the food was fantastic. It was nice just spend a couple of hours relaxing. Occasionally, running after Christopher. Who loved having an open field to run around on. I think he's going to be a running back one day. On the way home we drove through Milford, Pennsylvania. The Milford Jazz Festival was taking place with live music in front of several businesses and plenty of patriotism on display. Sunday was Gracie's first day of Sunday School at the United Methodist Church of Matamoras. All the kids (and parents) celebrated the start of the school year with a delicious pancake and sausage breakfast. Then my niece Tracey and her family visited in the afternoon.
