Here's why there are more mosquitoes biting us right now

Last night I was sitting outside my house and mosquitoes bit me several times. Now I know why. It's been a very wet summer. Then we got plenty more rain in September. Usually, the land around rivers, streams and lakes has dried down by now. That hasn't happened yet this year thanks to Henry and Ida, Morris County Mosquito Control has received more than 1,000 calls this month. That's 10 times the usual number. More mud and soggy land gives mosquitoes more opportunities to lay eggs. Which hatch in about 5 days. We will probably have to put up with this until the ground starts to freeze.
