Jersey City's "Water's Soul" statue will be dedicated today

There's something new on the Jersey City skyline. Designed for New York City to see. It's an 80 foot tall woman's head. Who appears to be telling the Big Apple to be quiet. Two developers along the Jersey City waterfront commissioned Spanish artist Jaume Plensa to create a statue several years ago. "Water's Soul" was assembled over the past few weeks. The dedication ceremony will be later today. Plensa says with the statue he his hoping to tell people the sound of water is "to keep silent and listen to the profound noise of the water talking to us." The statue is made out of polyester resin, fiberglass and marble dust. It was shipped here in 23 containers from Plensa's studio in Barcelona, Spain. LeFrak and Simon Property Group paid for the bright white statue. It's 4 miles away from the Statue of Liberty and is directly across from Greenwich Village in New York City. Plensa and the companies who paid for "Water's Soul" are hoping it will become a tourist attraction.
