My Epic Weekend In Pictures: Battling Winter

While I don't have many success stories from this weekend, I still made several fun memories. If you read / watch my Epic Weekend In Pictures, it's pretty quickly obvious that I have limitations. I'm not mechanically inclined whatsoever. For Christmas my parents gave me a new tool box and it has 65 pieces. Even I joked immediately that maybe it's possible I'll know what 7 of those pieces actually are. When my bestie JDawg was busting on me and quizzing me on the contents, even just with the label alone I didn't know all of the tools. He had to give me a major hint "The Boy, think, your last name is part of this tool!" "OHHH that's what an Allan Wrench looks like!" (Yes I know I spelled it my way instead of the proper way.) When I announced Friday morning during my daily 8:45am crossover feature with Steve Andrews that I wanted to attempt insulating windows at my place, we all had very low expectations. I likely didn't even meet our already lowered expectations, ugh.

Friday night was a nice, quiet low key night in. By the time I got home from work, I spotted a Friends rerun mini marathon. If that doesn't give me a fun fill nostalgic night, I don't know what does. I was happy to be inside, trying to stay warm watching Friends. I love ski season so much here, how many folks can say that they can watch skiers from their deck or even living room? I've been tweaking my place over the last year to try to give my place more of a ski lodge kind of vibe. After upgrading my electric fireplace which can allegedly heat up to 1000 square feet, still being cold sitting on my couch watching television is driving me insane. I know a huge source of this problem is all the heat I'm losing from the slider door, and the glass from my windows too. I love the way my place is looking, that's why I don't get heavier drapes etc. I rent because in radio we always joke rent don't buy, so upgrading windows isn't really an option. I put draft beaters at the bottom of my slider doors. We still have much more work to do. As you'll see shortly, I haven't made much progress at all. I'll keep rewatching youtube videos and trying my best, giving it my everything. Steve Andrews got his to go up PERFECTLY, you can't even tell anything is there. You can see the success Steve Andrews had by clicking here.

Saturday morning I got some basic errands done. I swung by Starbucks at Vernon's ACME and got another Treinta Shaken Iced Green Tea. Even though the temperatures were arctic, that still didn't deter me at all. Then I got some grocery shopping done, success. One fun factor of grocery shopping when it's arctic temperatures out, as long as you don't get liquids, no rush to go home and put your frozen food into the freezer.

Saturday afternoon I ventured over to The Cottage in Franklin and enjoyed many laughs with some wonderful friends. A couple of my friends were joking that they would be texting me during the Patriots NFL playoff game. I warned them not to. I'm not a good sport nor good texter during the heat of Patriots games, where I just scream at my television like a maniac for four straight hours. In this case, the second our Patriots quarterback was intercepted on a terrific Buffalo Bills play, I knew we had no chance at winning. Then Buffalo scored. Then Buffalo scored again. Then Buffalo scored again. I've been joking with friends the last couple of days looking at my watch and saying "hey look, I think The Buffalo Bills just scored again on my Patriots, even though the game and our season ended Saturday night." I would much rather lose in blowout games where you're not even close than those heartbreaking close losses. I went to bed around Midnight happy and proud of how my Patriots bounced back and made it to the playoffs with a rookie quarterback, also happy that at least the game was a Saturday night and not keeping me up past my preferred bedtime on a school night.

Sunday morning I was going stir crazy despite the arctic weather. I ventured on a day trip to Rockaway Mall for some retail therapy. Target didn't have anything I liked, but Dick's Sporting Goods had Under Armour options for me. I always try to support the brick and mortar places before shopping online. If the brick and mortar doesn't have the specific option I have in mind, then I go online for that convenience. I always try to support and shop local whenever possible. Some question if chains count as local. I say they absolutely can still count as local, because a large percentage of their employees are usually local.

Sunday afternoon I stayed in watching football. Am I guilty of using the cold weather as an excuse for watching hours of football on my couch when I would have been watching even if it was sunny and 75 degrees outside? You're absolutely right, yes I am.

Monday was my DIY fail. I tried with the window insulation project. I watched several YouTube videos for guidance. I just seemingly don't have the touch for it - yet. I'll keep practicing though. If it helps my place then it's well worth the repeated heartbreak, frustration and public humiliation lol.

Overall I had a great weekend, despite the multiple fiascos. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Epic Weekend In Pictures. Time to start planning next weekend!
