My Epic Florida Vacation Weekend In Pictures

This Epic Weekend In Pictures will be focused on tropical sights. My actual weekend wasn't Epic which is good, because I needed to rest up and recharge. Our Florida vacation definitely was Epic. Tough to believe that this was my first time flying on an airplane in 9 YEARS. Talk about the fun in getting the band back together again. I met up with Matt, Chris and Rob in Fort Lauderdale. Rob flew in from Los Angeles, Matt and Chris flew in from Boston, and I flew in from New Jersey. This was my first time ever visiting Fort Lauderdale and Miami. I'm so psyched we did this.

It all started the week after Christmas. I was visiting my family when Matt came over to say hi to us. He said "we should do a guys golf weekend in February just to get away." I looked at him like a hound without a chain. I looked at him and my parents excitedly saying "there's nothing holding me back, I CAN do this!" There were so many times just for fun I would look up to see what the weather in Fort Lauderdale was like. We had GREAT weather only raining one day when we were there.

Monday afternoon was the first time the four of us were together since Chris's bachelor party 4 years ago. We were busting on each other and ourselves so much my cheeks are still sore from laughing so hard. It seemed as if we were laughing for a few straight hours. We split a couple of sushi trays. I failed with my chopsticks taking my spicy tuna sushi roll off of the plate in hilariously humiliating fashion. By the time they took my picture I got the chopsticks right at least. They wish they had their cameras rolling on me when I hilariously failed. All good.

Tuesday our friend Matt surprised us to celebrate all of our 40th birthdays by renting a 52 foot long charter boat. We ubered from Fort Lauderdale to Miami and WOW. My whole life I've seen Miami on television, and pictures honestly don't do it enough justice.

I don't want to say that I can't swim. I can swim in hot tubs and swimming pools, I just wouldn't feel comfortable betting on myself if my life depended on it. The second I saw the yacht, my friends were getting excited, whereas I immediately said "where are the life jackets? Respect the sea!" We had so much fun just taking in the sights and sounds of Miami. We even saw a dolphin. I tempted fate and jumped in the Atlantic Ocean swimming a few feet. Everyone was proud of me for jumping in and I provided some entertainment for my friends.

Wednesday was our final full day there, and as we were finishing up breakfast it started raining. I realized quickly just like with The Shore, or The Cape, things can get a little boring quick when you're stuck inside. It's funny, as excited as we were, we never came up with a backup plan for if it rained. Fortunately earlier in the week we decided to skip golf. It would've been raining on us had we tried to golf anyway.

Fortunately the rain slowed down within an hour just long enough for us so we could venture outside. Based on a tip from one of my besties, Brad, we went out to a place called The Elbo. It's a dive cash only beach bar right on the water. I always say it, if you're still cash only in 2022, you gotta be GOOD. They definitely are! We made friends with girls also known as The Philly Girls. It was fun making new friends there. We joked that 90% of the population in Fort Lauderdale last week was folks visiting from the northeast. I joked it seemed like nobody there was actually from there.

That Florida vacation was a trip filled with laughs along with my friends. We'll have stories for life after that fun, wild trip. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my Epic Weekend In Pictures. Time to start planning next weekend, and it'll take me up to Boston. Time for my parents annual St. Patrick's Day party! LET'S GO!
