Today marks the final day for New Jersey residents to register to vote in the upcoming primary election. The registration can be completed online or in-person at local county clerk's offices. The primary election, scheduled for June 4, will include races for President, U.S Senate, U.S Congress, and local offices.

To register, residents will need a valid driver's license or social security number. The new law is part of an effort to make voting safe, simple, and secure for eligible voters, according to Lieutenant Governor Tahesha Way, who oversees the New Jersey Division of Elections.

The registration deadline is 21 days prior to the election day. After registration, voters can check their registration status online. The state also offers opportunities for residents to serve their community by applying to be a poll worker for the upcoming election.

For those who cannot vote in person on election day, absentee voting is available without the need for an excuse. The last day to request a mail-in ballot is seven days before the election. If returning the mail-in ballot in person, it must be received by the County Board of Elections before the close of polls on election day. If returning by mail, it must be postmarked no later than election day and received by the County Board of Elections no later than six days after the closing of the polls.
