Kevin Corbett, President and CEO of NJ Transit, has announced his resignation, effective January 15, 2025. Governor Phil Murphy confirmed Corbett's departure, highlighting his significant contributions to New Jersey's mass transit system since his appointment in 2018.

Corbett, the third longest-serving CEO in NJ Transit's history, has overseen numerous improvements, including enhancing customer service, modernizing infrastructure, and introducing electric buses. Under his leadership, NJ Transit fully implemented Positive Train Control and nearly completed the Portal North Bridge replacement project. The agency also received recognition as "North America's Most Outstanding Public Transportation System" from the American Public Transportation Association.

Governor Murphy praised Corbett's efforts, stating, "Kevin has worked in coordination with our federal government, Amtrak, and our Legislature to develop strategic plans and solutions that address commuters’ concerns." Corbett expressed gratitude for the opportunity, saying, "Serving as President & CEO of NJ Transit has been the honor of a lifetime."

Corbett will transition to a new role in academia, where he plans to focus on innovation, infrastructure, and public transit advocacy.
