New Jersey drivers will encounter higher tolls starting January 1. Tolls on the New Jersey Turnpike and Garden State Parkway will increase by three percent. Additionally, drivers heading into New York City will face higher costs at Port Authority crossings, such as the Lincoln and Holland tunnels and the George Washington Bridge.

The Port Authority of New York and New Jersey has approved a 71-cent toll increase for entering Manhattan, effective in January. This is part of a broader budget plan to address revenue losses from the COVID-19 pandemic and to invest in infrastructure. The budget also includes a 25-cent increase for PATH fares, raising each ride to $3, marking the first fare hike since 2014.

Drivers entering Manhattan below 60th Street will also pay a new congestion pricing toll of $9.Governor Phil Murphy has criticized the congestion pricing plan, describing it as a financial burden on New Jersey residents. Public hearings on the toll and fare hikes were held in December, with virtual options available for public comment.

The Port Authority's budget proposal includes measures to encourage E-ZPass use by increasing toll-by-mail fees and offering discounts for PATH riders with disabilities starting in summer 2025.

In South Jersey, tolls on Delaware River bridges into Philadelphia increased in September.
