United Airlines will reinstate its direct flights between New Jersey and Israel starting March 15, 2025. The airline will operate flights from Newark Liberty International Airport to Tel Aviv, marking the first U.S. airline to resume this route since service disruptions in October 2023 due to attacks by Hamas. Governor Phil Murphy expressed his support for the decision, emphasizing the importance of Israel as a critical ally and economic partner for New Jersey. He noted that the resumption of flights will ease travel for businesses, the Jewish community, and families wishing to visit loved ones, especially in time for the Passover holiday.

The flights will utilize Boeing 787-10 aircraft, and United plans to add a second daily flight starting March 29, 2025. The reinstatement comes after a comprehensive evaluation of regional operational factors and collaboration with flight attendant and pilot unions. Yael Golan, Interim Tourism Commissioner to North America for the Israel Ministry of Tourism, welcomed the move, stating that it will significantly increase airlift, allowing American travelers to visit Israel more easily and economically.

Meanwhile, Delta Airlines has also announced plans to resume flights between JFK Airport and Tel Aviv in April. The timing of these resumptions aligns with recent geopolitical developments, including a temporary ceasefire and hostage release agreement in the region.
