Ed Sheeran just wrapped up his '+ - ÷ = x' Tour in India this month, and it's solidified a major milestone, not just for the superstar, but for global touring.
Sheeran's India tour was a groundbreaking moment for India's live entertainment, marking the first time a global A-list expanded their tour beyond the country's traditional cities of Mumbai and Dehli, and performed seven sold-out shows for over 120,000 fans.
BookMyShow Founder & CEO, Ashish Hemrajani explained of the landmark, "Ed Sheeran’s record-breaking '+ - = ÷ x' India Tour across six cities underscores the fact that the India market at-large has come of age and BookMyShow along with AEG Presents are thrilled to have been able to lead the charge on bringing to life this tour - which has been Ed's most extensive one in the region till date. The success and expanse of the tour puts the spotlight on India as a country where major artists can successfully tour multiple cities, much like in other critical must-play global markets anywhere in the world."
Hemrajani continued, “"With several international artists and music bands witnessing sold out tours in India across cities over the past few years, the success of the '+ - = ÷ x' Tour here reinforces India’s place in the global live entertainment touring circuit as a market with spectacular economic potential and viability on the back of a vast, young population that looks to experience global cultural milestones through premium live entertainment. This makes India a win-win destination for international artists, consumers, and promoters all at once."
Sheeran returned to India after performing in Mumbai in March 2024, and kicked off his '+ - = ÷ x' India Tour in Pune, India, and traveled across the country stopping in Hyderabad, Chennai, Bengaluru, Shillong and Delhi. After wrapping his India tour, Ed shared a recap video, highlighting his trek and fans who came to see him, many of which who explained how much it meant to be able to see him perform live.
