Today begins National Fishing and Boating Week which runs through next weekend. The week was proclaimed nationally by President George W. Bush in 2002. In the Sussex County area two well-known fishing and boating spots are Lake Mohawk and Lake Hopatcong. If you're a fan of fishing, cast your line into your favorite lake, and if you're into recreational boating find a lake you like and enjoy nature. During this National Fishing and Boating Week, some states offer free fishing passes at public fishing sites. In fact, next Saturday, the 9th, New Jersey permits fishing without a license. If you want to try out fishing for the first time, that would be the day to do it. You can find out more about the free fishing days and recreational boating also by going to http://takemefishing.org. Have fun and be safe.
