I'm not a big eater of pie but one pie that catches my taste bud is banana cream pie. Sometimes when there's a coffee hour after Sunday church my friend Judy brings a freshly made banana cream pie, and I have to admit I'm usually the first in line to get a piece. Today is National Banana Cream Pie Day which no one seems to know who created it, but it did began in the country during the early 1900's. It's been said that this pie was rated the number one rated favorite dessert among the soldiers of the United States Armed Services during the 1950's. Banana cream pie, which you don't even have to bake as with most pies, needs very few ingredients and takes minimal time to make. Go to any dessert recipe book, and it's there. There's no coffee hour tomorrow at church so I guess I could make one.
