You may have to rethink your weekend plans because Hopatcong State Park is temporarily closed for swimming. The closure stems from a failed water test.
According to the Hopatcong Patch, the park was closed on Monday and can reopen when a water test sample comes back with acceptable levels. The Lake Hopatcong Foundation issued an announcement about the closure on Twitter.
If the park doesn't reopen for swimming by Thursday it may affect the NJ State Park Lifeguard Tournament.
You can monitor the status of Hopatcong State Park on the Department of Environmental Protection's website or by calling the park's office at (973) 398-7010.
