The Garden State has nearly 400,000 vacant properties, 2,912 of which are in Sussex County. You probably drive past some every day or you may even live next to one.
So how do these affect residents? Well, according to a report by the Lincoln Institute of Land policy, these properties affect home value and economic growth.
Vernon Township has the most vacant properties out of any other town in the county with 604. On the other end of the spectrum, Andover Borough, Walpack Township and Fredon Township have the least with six, seven and 17 respectively.
