On Friday a Budd Lake man was sentenced to eight years in prison for the drug-induced death of a Lake Hopatcong woman. Kayron Jackson was indicted on numerous charges and one included the strict liability statute which holds an a person liable if they sell illegal drugs and the buyer dies from them.
Jackson admitted to giving Jennifer Ward heroin the day before she was found dead at her Lake Hopatcong residence. In addition to distributing heroin, he admitted to giving out fentanyl as well.
The 38-year-old is required to serve at least 85% of his sentence under the No Early Release Act.
