Rodale books is recalling Johanna Holmgren's cookbook, Tales From A Forager's Kitchen, because some recipes might make readers sick. The book was published in May and criticized shortly after for encouraging people to eat raw morel mushrooms.
The Instagram influencer, who goes by @foxmeetsbear on the platform, included a recipe for Dark Chocolate Dipped Fungi which suggested using raw morel mushrooms. The Michigan Department of Community Health says that eating raw or undercooked morel mushrooms can cause nausea, abdominal pain and vomiting.
The book's publisher is offering full refunds to anyone who purchased the cookbook and encouraging stores to return any of the books they have in stock.
