The driver of the tractor trailer that crashed and injured a Highland Lakes woman has been charged with reckless driving, unsafe lane change and breaking an ordinance on trucks over 4-tons using Route 515.
Jose Mercedes was driving the truck on 515 last Friday when he left the roadway and ended up crashing into an SUV at the entrance of the Acme supermarket shopping center. The SUV, driven by Christa Duffy, was waiting at the stoplight and ended up in a ditch. Both Mercedes and Duffy, were sent to the hospital.
Thankfully the accident wasn't as bad as it could have been and they've both been released.
