After 21 Years Vernon High School Has New Head Football Coach

In April, Chuck Tepper stepped down from his coaching position at Vernon Township High School. Now for the first time in 21 years, the school has a new head football coach. The team is being lead by Steve Down who previously worked as an assistant football coach at Newton High School for five years.

Last year, Newton won its first state title and hopefully with Down's guidance Vernon can help see some of that same success. The Vikings haven't been to state playoffs in years and last season they finished with a 0-10 record.

Only time will tell if a new coaching style is what the team needs to succeed. Their first game is scheduled for August 31 at Kittatinny Regional High School.
