Having a child is expensive, partly because of the medical bills. A delivery in the U.S. can cost over $10,000, but some states are better to give birth in than others.

Using 26 factors, including cost and health care accessibility, WalletHub ranked all 50 states and the District of Columbia from best to worst. Vermont took the top spot while Mississippi was at the bottom of the list.

How did New Jersey rank? Well...it did okay. The Garden State was 20th overall and 4th for lowest infant-mortality rate but tied with California for the highest cesarean-delivery charges and highest conventional-delivery charges.
