Six People Nominated for Sussex County Sports Hall of Fame

Each year a new person is inducted into the Sussex County Sports Hall of Fame. This year's candidates include graduates from Pope John, Vernon, Newton and High Point. The six nominees include:

  • Connor Fox graduated from Pope John High School in 1998 and is nominated for his accomplishments in high school cross-country, basketball, track and college basketball. He currently lives in Rutherford with his wife and daughter.
  • Joe Pilewski graduated from Pope John High School in 2002 and is nominated for his accomplishments in high school and college swimming. He currently lives in South Miami, Florida with his wife and daughter.
  • Kevin Pokrywa graduated from Newton High School in 2001 and is nominated for his accomplishments in high school football, basketball, baseball and college football. He currently lives in Carlsbad, California with his wife and son.
  • Alexis Johnson graduated from Newton High School in 2001 and is nominated for her accomplishments in high school field hockey and basketball. She currently lives in Bradenton, Florida with her husband and two sons.
  • Ryan Olsen graduated from Vernon Township High School in 2004 and is nominated for his accomplishments in high school swimming. Olsen lived in Sussex County until his passing in 2008. 
  • Shannon McEvoy graduated from High Point Regional High School in 2007 and is nominated for her accomplishments in high school track and soccer. 

Members of the Sussex County Sports Hall of Fame will cast their votes for this year's inductee and the annual banquet is set to be held on Nov 10.
