After expanding to a second campus, Sussex County Community College will be launching their Welding Technology Program this September. Classes will be held in the new McGuire Technical Education Center in Newton and give students a hands-on experience.

Upon completion of the program, students will know how to use welding equipment to industry standards and have gained working knowledge of welding terms, safety procedures, technical drawing and blueprint reading, quality control procedures, and more.

The program will give students the experience needed to join the growing profession, as demand for welders is expected to increase 6% through 2026.

The college's Automotive Services Technology Program, which is currently held on the main campus, will also be moving to the new Main Street location. SCCC also plans to offer other technical programs in the future, like Diesel Mechanics.
