Champions Way Sports Academy, a training facility that will operate in conjunction with the Sussex County Miners, is slated to open this weekend. From hosting clinics and youth programs, to offering one-on-one training, the sports facility is a convenient place for Sussex residents to hone their skills.
The 17,000-square-foot space is open to kids of all ages and boasts an indoor turf field, batting cages and an outdoor baseball field.
According to the New Jersey Herald, Miners manager Bobby Jones came up with the idea to create the academy and its primary goal is to give local baseball and softball players a quality facility that's similar to the ones found in other states.
The grand opening will take place at Skyland Stadium Event Center from 12:30 to 4 p.m. this Saturday, August 25. They'll have contests, a barbecue, and the first 100 kids to arrive get a free Champions Way T-shirt.
