Last week Hopatcong Police arrested two men who stole a 1996 Ford Ranger so they could drive to East Orange and buy drugs. Jason A. Markovits of Mount Arlington and Timothy MacDonald of Stanhope stole the vehicle from the parking lot of 3-in-1 Deli and Grocery after the truck owner left his keys in the car.

After both men were arrested, Markovits admitted to driving the truck and told police that they had no intention of returning it. It appears the theft was random because he said they didn't know the truck owner personally.

Their charges include third-degree theft and third-degree burglary.
