The Oktoberfest planned by Hampton Township's Recreation Committee has been cancelled after the event beneficiary, Kittatinny Little League, backed out. According to the New Jersey Herald, the fundraiser was met with strict demands regarding alcohol consumption, concerns over fake IDs, and a requirement that the little league pay for renting the beer tent.
The Township Committee is now being accused of showing "blatant favoritism" for not placing the same restrictions on other events like one last month that was sponsored by the township's Fire and Rescue Department. Apparently the fake ID issue wasn't questioned for that event and there wasn't a drink limit in place either.
