5 Movies Filmed In Sussex County

Sussex County isn't the most popular place in New Jersey for filming but it's been the backdrop for a handful of movies. Here are five films that were shot locally.

In & Out (1997) - This movie, starring Kevin Kline, Joan Cusack, and Tom Selleck, filmed in Sparta. The "Roadhouse Bar" exterior in the film is actually The Homestead Restaurant.

Friday the 13th (1980) - This classic movie stars Betsy Palmer, Adrienne King, and Jeannine Taylor and was shot in Blairstown. They filmed scenes at No-Be-Bo-Sco camp and the Blairstown Diner.

Zoolander (2001) - Ben Stiller, Owen Wilson, and Christine Taylor starred in this over-the-top comedy and taught everyone the meaning of Blue Steel. The coal mining scenes in the movie were shot at Odgensburg's very own Sterling Hill Mining Museum.

Jersey Shore Massacre (2014) - This horror version of Jersey Shore starred Danielle Dallacco, Angelica Boccella, and Giovanni Roselli and was partially filmed in Newton and Sparta.

Endangered (coming soon)- This independent film has yet to be released and it's the fourth installment in a series of movies by Bloomfield filmmaker Tom Ryan. It filmed in and around Victoria Diner on Route 206 in Branchville.
