Former "Cosby Show" actor Geoffrey Owens is speaking out after being job-shamed for working as a cashier at a New Jersey Trader Joe's.

In an interview with Good Morning America, the 57-year-old said he taught acting and directing for years but it wasn't enough to make ends meet. He'd been employed by Trader Joe's for 15 months and liked the flexibility of the job because he could continue to auditioning for gigs.

Owens said he was devastated when the photos first surfaced, but that quickly passed after he saw the outpour of support online.

"I really want to thank everybody out there, family, friends, Hollywood community, and the general public for the incredible support and positivity that they've shown for me. It's quite astounding. It's very encouraging."

Several celebrities, including Terry Crews and Patricia Heaton, showed support for the actor and shared what jobs they worked to help pay the bills.
