Arrest Made in Newton Car Burglaries

Earlier today the Newton Police Department announced that they arrested someone in connection to the multiple car burglaries that occurred last month. Hasdrede Kengne, 20, is facing numerous charges, including eight counts of 3rd degree burglary.

The thefts happened overnight on August 28 and happened mainly near Madison Street, Halsted Street, Lawnwood Avenue, Spring Street, and Main Street. Items that were stolen included cash, sunglasses, and credit cards but police say most of the items were recovered and returned to the owners.

Though they've made an arrest, the police are encouraging residents to keep their car doors locked and remove any valuable items. Read their full statement below.
