Sparta Township Council is taking a stance against the legalization of recreational marijuana in New Jersey. On Tuesday, the council unanimously approved a resolution opposing the legalization and introduced an ordinance that prohibits both recreational and medical marijuana within all zones of the township.
According to the New Jersey Herald, Sparta Mayor Joshua Hertzberg said he thinks the township's residents are against the use of marijuana, even for medicinal purposes.
The council will hold a public hearing and possible vote on October 9.
