A Newark man that allegedly sexually assaulted two Franklin Borough children has been offered a plea deal. If Robert Fedder III accepts the offer he faces 12 years in prison and would have to plead guilty to charges that include first-degree aggravated assault.
The 31-year-old is a high-risk Megan's Law offender and was previously convicted of at least three sexual assaults. According to the New Jersey Herald, Fedder fled the police lobby in March after being questioned about the assault and shortly after the police apprehended him near the Franklin Pond.
The mother of the children, Teresa Nussbaum, is also facing charges because police said she knowingly placed the kids in Fedder's custody, not once, but multiple times. She's looking at charges of second-degree endangering the welfare of a child and a drug charge that was added after police found MDMA in her possession.
