Franklin Man Indicted for Fatal Shooting

A Franklin man, has been indicted in the fatal shooting of his wife. Last June, Joseph Salokas allegedly shot his wife, Loretta, in the neck and then called police to report it. 

When police arrived Loretta was already dead and Salokas reportedly told police he shot her because she was possessed. According to the New Jersey Herald, the first assistant prosecutor indicated that mental illness was a factor in the incident.

The 79-year-old is currently under evaluation at a mental health treatment facility. He is facing charges of murder and possession of a weapon for an unlawful purpose.
