After delays with the former McGuire Chevrolet property, Sussex County Technical School presented a plan to share services with Sussex County Community College earlier this week. The plan was introduced at Board of Chosen Freeholders meeting at the Stillwater Township Municipal Building on Wednesday.
It included demolishing the technical school's pool and expansions and renovations to the tune of $4.9 million. The arrangement would allow for SCCC students to use Sussex Tech's diesel shop and host their culinary program in an addition to the on-site agricultural building.
While some agreed that the plan would be beneficial to both parties, one concern raised was that the college is looking to grow its programs and the technical school has to turn people away because the programs have too much interest.
