Newton Cafe Collecting Mascara Wands for Appalachian Wildlife Refuge

A Newton cafe is collecting mascara wands to benefit the Appalachian Wildlife Refuge. 4Chicks Cafe will be accepting donations through the end of October and all wands collected will be cleaned and mailed to the North Carolina organization.

Small animals can get larvae in their coats and feathers which can lead to infections. Mascara brushes are both gentle and small enough to remove them. Something that you would normally throw away can actually save a small creature's life.

So before you drop that tube of mascara in the garbage, think about taking it over to the cafe at 214 Spring Street.
