A Hackettstown resident and former Jefferson fire inspector was sentenced to 2 years and 10 months in prison for extortion. Billy Donnerstag allegedly has ties to the mob and his father was reportedly linked to illegal activity and convicted of murder almost 50 years ago.

Donnerstag reportedly extorted an unnamed developer in Middlesex County. The 50-year-old, along with Joseph Martinelli, allegedly tried to collect money from the developer citing that he/she hadn't paid enough for the property and threatened to harm the developer if they weren't paid.

Martinelli is scheduled to be sentenced on November 26.
