A West Milford man who admitted to leaving his child near heroin has been sentenced to five years in state prison for endangering the welfare of a child. Frank Carman was also sentenced to five years in prison for aggravated assault on a police officer which is to be served concurrently.
The charges stem from two separate incidents in 2017. In May of that year the infant was reportedly left in a Wantage house near hypodermic needles and bags of heroin after Carman assaulted his girlfriend and fled the residence.
The aggravated assault reportedly occurred in August of 2017 when state troopers responded to a call at the Sussex Motel. The 38-year-old allegedly spread his blood over the trooper's face and struck an officer while detained in a holding cell.
