Traffic Stop Leads to Drug Arrest in Newton

A traffic stop for speeding led to the arrest of a Layton resident. Richard Samartin was driving on Main Street in Newton on October 26 when he was pulled over by Officer Donald Meisinger for exceeding the posted speed limit.

The 30-year-old was arrested and charged with possession of a controlled dangerous substance when the officer reportedly found marijuana in his console. 

He's expected to appear in court on November 13.
